The History of My 68 Impala

This 1968 Impala was purchased by my Grandfather, Earnest from the De Nooyer Brother Chevrolet Dealership in Battle Creek Michigan where he worked as a mechanic. The total purchase price for this new car was $2,943.04.

My grandfather was a General Motors auto mechanic; you can be assured the oil was changed at least every 3,000 miles! This car still has the original engine, with 65,000 original miles; the interior is also original and has been kept, as it was when my Grandparents owned the car.

The only additions to the vehicle over the years have been the fender skirts that my father put on the car (The fender skirts were an option in '68 but obviously not very practical for a vehicle driven in Michigan winters). The stereo was also upgraded to add the cassette (I do still have the original).

The photo is of my grandparents Edna Pearl, Earnest, myself and the Impala in the background at their house in Traverse City, Michigan. In the tradition of all young men I have named the car "Edna"(but will always think of her as "grandma")~ I think grandpa would approve, don't you?
If you have any questions, please ask, I can't think of anything that would make Grandpa, Dad and me happier than to know that someone still shares our interest in great automobiles!
